In this course, we will explore cookbooks from the Italian peninsula from the Middle Ages to the present. By analyzing cookbooks, we will uncover aspects of the history of the Italian peninsula, Italy, and Italian gastronomy. We will discover how food habits in the Italian peninsula have evolved over time and how this evolution has shaped the real and imaginary Italian food culture we know today.
