IU Cinema: “To Be Takei” film

07:00 pm to 08:40 pm
IU Cinema, 1213 E. 7th St.
http://www.cinema.indiana.edu/?post_type=film&p=6949

This film is presented in partnership with the Bloomington PRIDE Summerfest and The Back Door.
Actor George Takei might be best known to many as Hikaru Sulu of the USS Enterprise from the Star Trek television and film franchise. But a new generation of fans knows him primarily from his popular, prolific, and hilarious Facebook feed—with more than 7 million followers. Takei spent his formative years in Japanese-American internment camps and, early in his career, was relegated to stereotypical Asian roles in film and television. In 2005, he chose to publicly “come out of the closet” and continue his lifelong stand against all forms of prejudice. (2K DCP presentation)

Cost: Free, but ticketed
