Though their acoustic sound is often associated with bluegrass or Old Time music, The Indiana Boys prefer to claim the label of “roots music” or Americana. While a discerning listener can certainly detect the influence of great bluegrass pioneers like Bill Monroe or Earl Scruggs on some of their songs, one can just as easily find traces of folk, pop, rock, and country artists like John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Alabama, U2, Dave Matthews, and (of course) Tom Petty.
