3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

As part of his featured exhibit at the Brown County Art Guild, Jerry Smith will host a live painting demonstration on Saturday, October 10, in the Brown County Art Guild lobby from 3-5 p.m.

Jerry Smith finds inspiration for his paintings traveling back roads. Most of his paintings depict the Indiana landscape or the Maine coast, where he makes frequent painting excursions. His work also encompasses varied subject matter including still-life and cityscapes. Smith is a lifelong Indiana resident. After graduating from Indiana State University he worked in human resources until he decided to pursue his interest in painting. While basically self-taught as an artist, he was greatly assisted and influenced by such people as Indiana artists Louise Hansen, Floyd Hopper, and Omer Seamon. He has attained signature member status in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, the International Society of Acrylic Painters, the American Society of Marine Artists, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society, the Watercolor Society of Indiana, and the Small Painting Society of Brown County. Jerry has been a member of the Brown County Art Guild since 1989.

Located in the heart of Nashville, Indiana, the Brown County Art Guild is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m. You can view the work of our featured artists all month long during our regular business hours. A reception for the artists will be held during the Second Saturday Village Art Walk on October 10, from 5-8 p.m. at the Brown County Art Guild at 48 S. Van Buren St. in Nashville, Indiana.
