Malcolm Dalglish and The Ooolites: Love Songs for a Lasting World to Benefit Middle Way House

07:00 pm to 09:00 pm
Buskirk-Chumley Theater

Malcolm Dalglish and the Ooolites join up with the Hybridmotion Collective to bring you Picture Book, this year’s Love Songs for a Lasting World show. Picture Book is a family show that evokes the awe of the natural world with songs of birds, trees, mythical creatures and wild things. Expect settings of critter songs, Kentucky writer Wendell Berry’s nature poetry, and instructional hip-hop-erettas on the making of pie and over-the-top peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Hybridmotion Collective dancer, Jun Kuribayashi, a veteran of Pilobolus will perform. Picture Book is a boldly optimistic feast of song and dance with soaring melodies, transcendent harmonies, and imaginative movement. Each year, Love Songs for a Lasting World brings a soulful, inventive, and sometimes zany swirl of song, dance, and pie; a celebration for all ages, with many new surprises as well as old favorites.

It’s become a Bloomington tradition and signature fundraiser for Middle Way House, an agency which empowers survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, a 24/7 help and crisis line, youth programs, advocacy, and more throughout six counties in southern Indiana.

The show is expected to last two hours, including a brief intermission. And of course stick around for the apple pie, served fresh from Muddy Fork’s wood-fired oven!

Doors for this general admission event will open at 6:30pm. Discounted tickets are available for youth (18 & younger) and students of any age.

Cost: $20-35
