The keynote speaker for the 2013 Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration is Carlotta LaNier, one of the “Little Rock Nine” who, in 1957, were the first African American students to attend Little Rock Central High School. LaNier’s actions, along with those of the other members of the “Little Rock Nine,” had an enormous impact on the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. The event will be held at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater and is free and open to the public.
