The Great Grown Up Spelling Bee will be held Thursday, August 23nd at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Round up your smartest colleagues, or at least those who can spell, and show off your spelling skills while supporting public education. Or, if spelling is not your thing, come cheer for your favorite team and witness a uniquely fun Bloomington event. Don’t worry about being singled out; this is a team competition! Each team, sponsored by local businesses, civic groups, or individuals, consists of three members. Participants dress in fun themed PG-rated costumes and have a great deal of fun while raising money for education. Spellers will compete for the championship trophy and the 2012 Bloomington Spelling Title. John Whikehart, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Bloomington will return as our emcee, along with celebrity judges Mayor Mark Kruzan, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, Dr. Judith A. DeMuth, and Judge Valerie Haughton and time keeper David Pillar! Sign up and start studying today.
