The opening show for Monroe County Civic Theater’s 2017 season is Jean Paul Sartre’s adaptation of Euripides’ The Trojan Women (directed by Jennifer Whitaker). This famous greek tragedy tells the story of what happens to the women of Troy once the city falls and their fates are left to the whims of the conquering Greek armies. The play’s antiwar message and examination of personal responsibility, misogyny, female agency and the cruel aftermath of war resonate as strongly today as they did over 2000 years ago. Help us to make this dark tragedy beautiful, meaningful and outstanding. email: [email protected]. Jen Whitaker – Director.
