The annual shoreline cleanup at Monroe Lake is scheduled for Sunday, September 11 at 1:30 p.m.
The cleanup targets harder-to-reach areas of the shoreline, where trash accumulates from wave action and flooding. Boats provided by the Lake Monroe Marina are used to bring volunteers in and trash out.
Volunteers can enjoy a free cookout after the cleanup. There will also be a prize drawing, sponsored by J.L. Waters.
Advance registration is required by September 8 for all volunteers at http://bit.ly/monroecleanup2016. Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age.
The annual cleanup is coordinated by Monroe Lake, Monroe County Stormwater Services, and the Hoosier National Forest, with assistance from the Army Corps of Engineers.
Additional info on the cleanup can be found at the registration link. Questions can also be directed to Jill Vance at 812-837-9967 or [email protected].
