Maple Syrup Season at the Farmstead
Bloomington Restorations, Inc. invites you to the monthly opening of the Hinkle-Garton Farmstead on Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 1-4 p.m. The syrup season is late this year so there is still a chance to come see the evaporators at work! And freshly bottled maple syrup will be for sale. In the 1892 main house, special music will be provided by Taylor DiClemente, a student in the Historical Performance Institute at the Jacob’s School of Music. He will play the lute, an instrument frequently played by Joseph Garton, one of the founders of the Institute. On exhibit will be From Farm to Table: Images of Foodways Past, a collection of photographs documenting the Hinkle-Garton Farmstead and the Wylie House by students in the Themester course, Industrial Archaeology. The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned and maintained by Bloomington Restorations, Inc. It is free and open to the public and is located at 2920 E. Tenth Street in Bloomington. For more information call BRI at (812) 336-0909 or go to www.bloomingtonrestorations.org.
