About: Pastels have been used by artists since the Renaissance, and have gained considerable popularity over the years. Pastels are a unique painting medium in that the colors are mixed on the paper by overlaying or blending, rather than on a palette. A number of notable artists used pastels, including Leonardo DaVinci, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Mary Cassat. This 4 week study of landscape in is a fundamental approach to working with chalk (soft) pastels. Participants will layout their landscapes by carefully observing pattern, light, composition & color. The objective is to learn technique using the method of pastel, by drawing, layering & blending to create desired effects.

She was an art instructor at the Indianapolis Art Center before relocating to Bloomington.
