SynthFest USA is an Independent Electronic Music Festival established in Bloomington, Indiana. This unique music event is possible thanks to the generous support of Indiana University Credit Union, Sweetwater Sound, Soma Coffee & Juice Bar, and Precision Eye Group. The three-hour music extravaganza will feature performances of artists representing three musical acts: Surreal Estate, PSB, and The Way Far-Out.
Surreal Estate is an electronic/synthesizer band from Indianapolis, IN. Members are Kelly Sheets, Bunny Sheets, and Joe Howard. The style is reminiscent of an Old Berlin style electronic music. Surreal Estate includes vintage analog synthesizers as well as digital keyboards in their performances. The Surreal Estate band has been performing for over five years, and has performed at the Indianapolis Electronic Music Festivals, and the Asheville Electronic Festivals in both Asheville and Black Mountain, NC.
PSB (Paul Siwko-Bajon), native of Poland, an electronic/synthesizer artist that specializes in renditions of famous electronic music composers’ output, as well as creations of his own original electronic music. This includes the music of Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, John Carpenter, Ulrich Schnauss, Giorgio Moroder, Michael Kastrup, Jan Hammer, and many others. The characteristic feature of PSB’s concerts is an implementation of the multimedia production. Custom-made films will accompany the music performance. PSB has initiated the SynthFest USA in 2017 by organizing the first of its kind 2 hour multimedia extravaganza of electronic/synthesizer music. PSB has been performing in the USA and Europe for the last 40 years. In 1993 he has been granted a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University Jacob School of Music. He is a recipient of two Individual Artist Program grants from the State of Indiana. Currently PSB is also acting as an Executive Director of SynthFest USA events.
The Way Far-Out blends the unique elements of the Berlin School of electronic music (Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Jean Michel Jarre), psychedelic synth-rock (Perrey and Kingsly, Vangelis, Kraftwerk) and elements of classic synth laden funk into unique sequencer driven, groove trek’n cosmic journeys and mind bending versions of cult favorite cover tunes. The Way Far-Out pull their instruments from a stable of classic and contemporary synthesizers, processed electric guitars and percussion blended with original and unique midi controllers to weave their cosmic aura in which to thrill, chill, move and groove. Add to all of this a fun and entertaining sci-fi multi-media stage performance for a complete experience unlike anything seen in this dimension.
Cost: $25 (advance), $30 (day of concert)
