On Friday, August 15th, beginning at 6:00 p.m., The Venue will host a veritable Tibetan cultural panorama, performed by Tibetan Monks from Sera Je, a Tibetan Monastery in exile in Southern India.
The Monks are guests of The Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center of Bloomington, the Center affiliated with the Dalai Lama. Their mission is to tour the United States to inform the public of the culture of Tibet, and spread its message of wisdom and compassion.
The Sera Monks will chant a prayer Chandren Tresol (asking of blessings and giving offerings), perform a Tibetan village dance called Tashi Sholpa. and treat all those attending to a traditional Sweet Rice Dish (drisol). The Monks will also offer for sale, objects de art created by Tibetan refugees. All profits from their sales will go to support the Sera Je Secondary School, a school which provides tuition-free education in both Buddhist philosophy and in Western studies.
As always at The Venue, this tremendous cultural event is free. However, our fine selection of paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and artistic gifts will also be on display for purchase.
