JASON AMMERMAN is a poet from Indianapolis, Indiana. He began writing poetry in high school during the late 80s at the urging of his English teacher after an assignment to write a poem. He began reading publicly in 1991 in downtown Indianapolis. He caught the bug to host and organize poetry readings during those early years of the 90s. He participated in local poetry slams and readings always longing to take his work on the road. He received the opportunity in 2000 when he attended and competed in the Dayton Poetry Slam for the first time. He has performed his work at the Green Mill Lounge at the Uptown Poetry Slam, the Bloomington Poetry Slam in Bloomington, Indiana and coached a slam team for the inaugural Midwest Poetry Slam League. He is the author of three collections of Poetry. All Grown Up (2006), Microphone or Bust! (2008) and Battle Scarred (2012). The most recent, Battle Scarred, is available through Chatterhouse Press. He released his first full length spoken word album, Revival, in 2018 through Perfect Mix Records. At present, Jason is beginning work on two new written collections and a new spoken word album. He lives in Indianapolis and has one son and a dog.

HIROMI YOSHIDA is a semi-finalist for the 2018 Wilder Series Poetry Book Prize, and a winner of Indiana University Writers’ Conference awards. Having earned a Master of Arts degree in English from Fordham University, and a Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington, she now teaches English as a New Language for the award-winning VITAL program at the Monroe County Public Library. In response to the 2016 presidential election outcome, she organized the Poets 4 Unity monthly reading series at Boxcar Books & Community Center to showcase Bloomington’s diverse voices and to build solidarity. Her poems have been published in literary magazines and journals that include Indiana Voice Journal, The Indianapolis Review, Flying Island, The Asian American Literary Review, and The Rain, Party, & Disaster Society.
